What is Adopt-A-Class?
Adopt-A-Class is an eXciting opportunity for Chamber members to bring real-world experiences to our students in Nixa. Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce businesses and organizations are invited to participate in the Adopt-A-Class program for Nixa Public Schools.
Adoption requests are now being accepted for pre-kindergarten through 6th grade classrooms along with a limited number of 7th & 8th grade classes.
What is Required to Adopt-A-Class?
► A minimum requirement of two planned events that advance learning in the classroom. More than this is acceptable and is up to the teacher and business!
► There is no fee to adopt a classroom. However, depending on your project, you may need to provide certain supplies or other goodies (snacks, promotional items, etc). It is a good idea to check with your teacher before bringing things into the classroom.
► You and your classroom teacher will schedule class time at any mutually agreed upon time between November and May.
► Generally, the business representative visits the classroom, however there may be opportunities for the class to visit your business. That decision is at the discretion of the teacher and dependent on availability of transportation.
► The business and teacher are encouraged to share resources and ideas for continued growth and education in the classroom.
► Your experience with your class can be as simple or as elaborate as you and your teacher choose. Have the teacher share the curriculum to see where your business or interests might enhance the class's learning experience.
How Does Adopt-A-Class Work?
► Commit to adopting a class completing this registration. There is no fee to register.
► Your business will be matched with a Nixa Public Schools classroom based on information you provide regarding grade level or requesting a specific classroom.
► You will be provided your teacher's contact information as well as the teacher receiving your information.
► An Adopt-A-Class Kick-Off Mixer will be held on Thursday, October 19 from 4:30 - 6 pm at the Nixa High School Commons Area. At this time we will provide you with additional information along with several tips for making your experience meaningful for both the students and your business. You will also have the opportunity to meet your teacher and make any preliminary plans.
► A certificate with your business name will be presented to the class and you will receive a certificate to display in your business.
