S.C.O.R.E. is designed to be an intervention program for students who are experiencing difficulty at the Nixa HS main campus. Since S.C.O.R.E. began, the program has helped 441 students graduate from Nixa High School.

S.C.O.R.E. stands for “Second Chance of Receiving an Education.”

Sep 30    Nixa Public Arts Committee Town Hall
RE: Nixa Public Arts Committee Town Hall Meeting

Where: Nixa City Hall, 715 W. Mt. Vernon, Nixa MO
Who: Citizens of the Nixa Area (65714) wishing to participate.

An informal committee was authorized by Mayor Brian Steele and City Council to form an informal committee for the exploration of forming a formal Public Arts Council for the city of Nixa as a partnership with the Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce.  Chris Russell, President/CEO gathered a few key stakeholders for an initial meeting to determine the steps to move forward.  Present in that meeting were Ryan Widel, Nixa High School Art Teacher, Pam Anderson, Nixa Downtown Revitalization Committee, and Brent Forgey with Nixa Police Department.  Katie Buford with Nixa Parks was not present however will be involved in the future. 

The steering committee determined the need for separate sub committees would be needed with volunteers from the community and decided that a Town Hall style meeting would be warranted to gather community input and volunteers.

The Mission: Establish a formal arts council exploring the various elements and solutions necessary to bring a culture of art and collaboration in Nixa.
The Vision: Nixa is a very art friendly culture with many showcases of public and private art that is of the highest quality, visually stimulating, and of enduring value across Nixa utilizing the many talents of our community.
